STRASBURG COMMUNITY PARK
A project of the Strasburg Community Parks Foundation, supported by the Borough of Strasburg, Strasburg Township, the Strasburg Area Sertoma Club, other service clubs, businesses, and residents.

Land owned by the Borough of Strasburg and leased to the foundation for 99 years for a cost of $1.

Master plan desinged by Philip Larsen of Larry Weaner Landscape Design Associates of Glenside, PA

Eleven Member board formed in response to citizens’ wish to preserve this land from development, upon approval from Strasburg’s Borough Council

STRASBURG COMMUNITY PARKS FOUNDATION
MISSION: The foundation is a nonprofit, publicly supported organization committed to fostering community involvement by working with local and regional groups and municipalities in planning a systematic approach toward the creation, development, and maintenance of public parklands within the Strasburg area. This commitment involves the solicitation of contributions, holding of fundraising events, and sponsoring of public programs to educate the public about the benefits of parkland and open space.

MAJOR PROJECTS ACCOMPLISHED INCLUDE
JANUARY 2000: Strasburg Community Parks Foundation adopts its Mission and Purpose Statements;
MARCH 2001: Master Plan released featuring a passive recreation park, native plants, and walking trails built on the site of a former cornfield;
2001: Soil stabilization and meadow grass seeding completed;
2002: Parking lot, walking trails, and sidewalk installed and volunteers plant woody tree seedlings;
2003-2005: Wildflowers and trees planted;
2006: Several pocket gardens installed showing habitats favorable to native small mammals, birds and insects;
2007: First concert held in open-air amphitheater
2008: Interpretive signs and split rail fencing installed
2009: Pavilion, reminiscent of local historic barns, was built
2013: Grading for rain gardens was done by the Borough of Strasburg and a maintenance shed was added;
2014: The parking area was improved;
2015: The stone, post and beam stage was built in the amphitheater where the Sounds of Strasburg concerts take place;
2018: The pavilion was re-stained;
2019: Visitor Information Kiosk was built
2021: First Annual Car Show held in July
2021: Rainwater flow rechanneled to preserve walking trails
2022: Ampthitheather Stage re-stained
